Clarke Argur Anderson, born near Cabri, SA, March 25th,
1912, died in Hospice House, Vernon on October 30th, 2008.
Clarke was predeceased by Annie, his wife of 67 years,
in 2003. Clarke is survived by two sons: Len (Carol) of Lumby
and Cliff (Carol) of Sherwood Park, AB; seven grandchildren: Kim (Don)
Schneider of Airdrie, AB; Mitzi (Dave) Fortin of Lumby; Toni (John) Williamson of Wabamum Lake,
AB; Chenoa Anderson (Ian Crutchley) of Sackville, NB; Aiyana (Matt) Howatt of Edmonton, AB; Mika
(Caroline) of Calgary, AB; and Tawa (Vanessa) of Louisville, KY; eleven great-grandchildren: Melissa
and Candace Schneider; Tahni and Cali Fortin; Bradley, Bryce and Taylor Williamson; Mataeo, Alethea
and Keilani Anderson; and Sophie Anderson.
Clarke pursued a number of occupations including railway tie maker, farmer, stationary steam
engineer, faller, truck driver for Maple Leaf Grocery and Bulman’s Cannery and carpenter for Howries.
He lived in Vernon from 1947 until his death. Fishing, fl y tying, hunting, camping, traveling, playing
cards, reading, socializing, and helping others were the passions of his life – aside from his strong
family ties. He left behind a legacy of hand-built items: cedar chests, china cabinets, rocking horses,
etc., for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed building items
in his workshop until he was 95. His stories and humor will be greatly missed by his family and
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel
of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Mr. Brian Jackson offi ciating. A reception will follow in the
Pleasant Valley Tea Room.
In lieu of fl owers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Clarke’s name to the North
