It is with heavy hearts that the family of Clyde Burgess announce his passing in Victoria BC on June 9th. Clyde was the founder of Valley Fiberbath/Bigfoot Industries in Vernon. Clyde was born in New Osgood Sask, in 1938.
He moved his family to Hawaii in 1967 where so many precious memories were made. He packed his family into a Landrover every week-end for an adventure from Kona to Hilo. He often made side trips to the volcano Kilauea or the green or black sand beaches. We always stopped to pick and chew sugar cane along the way. Sometimes we would take the longer way to Hilo via Saddle Road…a sacred Hawaiian road. Dad would tell us amazing stories about this route. We were all consumed…enchanted.
We were a happy family and our childhood was awesome. Clyde spent 10 years in the navy and was a Golden Gloves boxer…he taught us how to defend ourselves.
Clyde is survived by our wonderful mother, Patricia of Arizona, son David Burgess (Mel) of California, daughters Jean Pearse of Oregon, Linda Jaeger of Vernon and 5 grandchildren.
We scattered our father’s ashes along with the ashes of his beloved Schnauzer, Pheobe in Campbell River during low tide. The tide came in and took them to a better place. Ships away dad, smooth seas, smooth sailing.
