SLY, Corinne Connor

June 25, 1933 ~ August 30, 2014

Those reading this will now be aware that I have the answers to the questions everyone has asked, “What happens when we die?” Perhaps we just become compost or perhaps the million that believe in reincarnation are right. If the Christian belief in heaven and hell are right, I shall die the second time of surprise. Whatever the answer is about what happens after death, in my case what happened before death was pretty good. I was born into a great family – Bruce and Cora Connor for parents, Patricia Moonyeen and Mary Jean for sisters and best friends. I was born in Big Rapids, Michigan; my family moved to Greeley, Colorado when I was eleven. I earned a teaching certificate with my Bachelor degree and earned a Master’s degree in Anthropology. In California I worked on military computer projects which enabled me to meet a delightful officer in the Canadian Air Force, Robert Ronald Sly. We were married in 1969 and moved to Ottawa in 1971. I gained not just a husband but three teenage children: Roma Jean, David Robert and Marie Ethel. They all became an important and treasured part of my life. After 5 years there, we quit our jobs (I got to help design the tactical crew compartment for Canada’s Long Range Patrol Aircraft) and moved to a log home up by Gold Bridge, BC. We had 12 wonderful years there until we got to the age where winters were a bit difficult so we got a home in Vernon. After Robert died in 2004, Vernon became my permanent home and I switched from gardening and wood chopping to Tai Chi. Through Tai Chi and in my condo I met many wonderful people. Thanks to all of you for the joy you added to my life. Wish I could give you the answer to the big question, but you have to wait and discover for yourselves.

I want all to be happy for me that I have died and should it be possible – that I am back with the man I so loved.

And in his heart

my heart is locked,

and in his life my life

…Christina Rossetti
