Cyrus Wood

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our Dad – Cyrus Paul Wood on Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 in Hospice House at the age of 76 years. Cy was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan on April 1st, 1929. He worked on the family homestead in his youth and then joined the RCAF, serving from 1948 – 1958. He spent three years stationed in Grostenquin, France. Upon leaving the Air Force Cy joined the lumber industry – managing and building sawmills in B.C. and Alberta. He retired to Vernon in 1990. Cy is survived by his daughter, Tricia ( Jan) Schell, his son, Kelvin (Raymonde) Wood, grandchildren; Michael (Lisa) Schell, Tracy Schell, Jamie (Dawn) Wood, Corie Wood and Kristin Wood, five great-grandchildren; Payton and Brooklyn Schell, Shae, Justin and Morgan Wood, his brother; Les (Ethel), Russell (Lorraine) and Bill (Charlotte), his sisters; Wilma West and Glenys Weldwood, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory Diane Head and her family. He was predeceased by his parents; Cyrus & Pauline Wood, his sisters; Ruth Marko and Mary Burgess, his infant sister, Grace, his brothers; Irvine and Ken Wood and his his infant brother, Wilfred. His wife, June predeceased Cy in 1992. We will always remember Dad for his quick wit and humour, his optimistic spirit and zest for life. Creamation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, November 21st, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Allan Dawe officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel.
