DAISY H. WOCKNITZ
August 27, 1923 – September 30, 2013
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Daisy, with her granddaughter Roni beside her as she left us on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the impressive age of 90 years in Vernon, B.C.
Daisy was a feisty, English bird who dedicated her life to her family. She was born in Wraysbury, England, the eldest of 4 sisters: Vera, Jeanette, and Dorothy. She met and married her husband, Ken, a Canadian soldier and celebrated the birth of their eldest daughter in England. They moved to Kimberley and celebrated the birth of their youngest daughter 8 years later. Daisy resided in Kimberley until she moved to live with her eldest granddaughter after the birth of her great grandsons. She loved to knit and bake for her granddaughters. She enjoyed her brief stint as a “Homemaker” in Kimberley. Her pastimes included: SHOPPING, playing cards with family, dancing to music, “whammy-ing” whoever played against the Canucks (waiting for them to win the Cup) and listening to her great grandsons play the piano for her.
She was predeceased by: her husband, Ken (April 1992); daughter, Debbie (September 1999); sister Jeanette in England; as well as son-in-law John Jonker. Daisy will be deeply mourned by: her sisters Vera (Vernon) and Dorothy (England); her daughter Brenda Beauchene (Byron); granddaughter Roni (Mark Van Wyk); great grandsons Liam and Théo; granddaughter Marijke Jonker; numerous nieces and nephews; step-family and in-laws; as well as all those whose lives she touched.
As requested by Daisy, there will not be a funeral service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter during a private family gathering at the Kimberley Cemetery.
She will live forever in our hearts.
We love you and will celebrate you with each ‘cuppa’.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.pleasantvalleyfh.com
