Dan Martel, age 68 of Vernon, BC passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 26th, 2021. Dan was born in McLennan, Alberta in 1953 and he is survived by his loving wife Carol Martel and their two beautiful daughters Christine Martel (Stephen Murray), Leah Martel (Imre Kovacs) and his special dog Marlee. Dan is predeceased by his father Richard and mother Celina, brother Claude and his beloved dogs Willie, Roxy and Buster. Dan was a very hard worker, during his younger years, he was an electrician, but as the kids got to be a little older, he went back to school to become a steam engineer. When Dan wasn't working, he was coaching his daughters on the ball field or building furniture in the garage. Dan retired early and moved to Vernon with his wife Carol and his kids soon followed. Dan wasn't much for sitting around, after arriving in Vernon he developed a 16-lot development overlooking Kalamalka Lake. Dan was very young at heart and full of life. He had quite a sense of humor, enjoyed playing tricks, and loved to tease his friends and kids. If you were one of the lucky ones that Dan gave a nickname to, you know you were very special to him. Dan spent his happiest days watching and coaching his daughters play ball. The highlight of his day was pulling up a lawn chair on game day with Carol. Dan will always be remembered as a loving husband, amazing father and loyal friend. A private family service will be held on Saturday July 17th, 2021 with a Celebration of Life to follow. Due to Covid restrictions, these events are by invitation only and we thank you for understanding. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Vernon SPCA would be appreciated (4800 Haney Rd, Vernon, BC V1H 1P6).
