Daniel Alfred Myles


February 7, 1920 – July 30, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Alfred Myles, 87, at Hospice House in Vernon, losing his battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Vernon having worked in the logging industry for many years, followed by a career in maintenance with the City of Vernon Recreation Centre until his retirement in 1985.

He is survived by his children, David Myles of Prince George and Nancy Woodroff of Calgary; his grandchildren Melissa McLean (Dugie) of Calgary; Pamela Popoff (Clint), Tamara Myles, and Daniel Myles, all of Prince George; his great grandchildren, Dugie McLean of Calgary and Faith Popoff of Prince George; as well as his brothers Bill of Lumby, John of Vernon, and nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife Amy in 1971, his mother Polly in 1975, and his father John in 1963. He will also be remembered by his wonderful caregivers, Bruce and Patricia Phillips, Randy Brown, as well as his special friend Joni Nixon.

As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cawkell, Dr. Lavoie, the nurses on 3 West, Vernon Jubilee Hospital, and special thanks to all the wonderful nurses and care aides at Hospice House for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dan may be made to Vernon and District Hospice Society, 3506-27 Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4.

May God grant him eternal rest.
