Daniel Mark Sowczenko

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Daniel Mark Sowczenko announces his sudden passing at the age of 50, on November 27, 2010 in Vernon, British Columbia. Dan was a very talented, self-employed woodworker who made beautiful custom kitchens and cabinets. He was well known for his absolute love of fishing, riding his Harley and especially snowmobiling. On any given weekend in the winter Dan could be found climbing the hill, making the high mark. Through his snowmobiling friends, he was known as “King of the Hill”, and talked about as somewhat of a legend on the mountain. He was predeceased by his mother Zena, father Elko and brother Val. His memory will be held dear in the hearts of his two daughters: Jolene (Pat) and Jacqueline and their mother Kim, as well as grandsons: Zachary and Daniel. Further cherishing his memory are his sisters: Lucie (Bill), Luby (Mark), Helen (Tim); brothers: Paul (Lori), Charlie (Sheri), David, Victor and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. There were not many people who were not touched by Dan’s huge heart and quirky sense of humour. In keeping with Dan’s wishes, there will be no funeral service but an informal Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Alexander’s Beach Pub (12408 Kalamalka Lake Road).
