He will be happily remembered by his wife of 53 years, Pat; daughter Cindy (Denis) Brunelle of Vernon and their children Lane (Sofia and son Daniel), Carla and Loren; son Greg (Candy) of Enderby and their children Calen and Taylor; son-in-law Jack Peebles and his children Jeffrey (Kali), Erin (Andrew) Day, and Leah; brothers Ernest of Vernon, Herb (Marlene) of Kamloops, Alan (Dorothy) of Vernon, Gordon (Heather) of Agassiz sister Joan Palm of Vernon and dozens of nieces and nephews. Danny was predeceased by his daughter Debbie Peebles in 2006, his brother Fred, mother Adelaide and fathers Edward Kuss and Edward Schley.

Danny joined the RCAF in 1954, married in 1955 and spent 20 years traveling in Canada, Europe, and the USA, returning to Vernon in 1974 where he worked to build the Best Western Vernon Lodge and worked the bars. He was forced to retire early when he was diagnosed with benign brain tumors in 1984. He endured many surgeries and radiation treatments without complaint for 25 years and happily for him, it’s over. Fortunately, he crammed a lot into the good years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, curling, golf, holidaying and being with his three children and eight grandchildren. We have missed his cheerful smile for many years. He was a member of FSNA.

We, Danny’s family, wish to thank Dr. Gavin Smart and all the caregivers at Heritage Square, where he has lived for over six years, for the excellent care. Bon Voyage Sgt. Schley.

At Danny’s request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life Tea will be held for family and friends at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30 at 3:00 P.M. In memory, donations can be made to Vernon Jubilee Hospital, 2101 – 32 Street, Vernon V1T 5L2.
