Mom's brave board said it all: You are a Mom, a Wife, amazing, beautiful, a Sister, an Aunty, loved, a Grandma, a Great Grandma, a Best friend. A fighter who is not alone.
Darlene was born in Sheridan Manitoba, the eldest daughter of George and Gladys Collison. Her early years were spent with her friends and her dog exploring the local toboggan runs, and during summers she caught mosquitoes. Her family moved to Lumby in 1951 and bought the property on Whitevale Road where her sister Georgina still lives. She started grade 3 in Lumby and met many of her still close long-time friends. But it wasn't until Grade six that she was noticed by her Life partner Earl. They were married in 1961.
She will be remembered for her love of Christmas and her amazing decorating of the entire house; the lightness and grace that she and Dad would have when they danced; her devotion to her favorite wrestlers; the passion she had for her golf game, and her golf cart the Blue max and golfing buddies; her love of her guitar and music; the way her blue eyes sparkled when she got the latest news or a visit from one of the grandkids or great grandkids, and for her courage that she fought her cancer in the final years of her life, and her stories she shared the past few months.
Darlene is survived by her husband and best friend Earl and her Sister Georgina. Her Children Kevin (Kelly) Rouck, Naomi Rouck, Rhonda (Ken) Karolelvitz; Grandchildren Alisha (Ezra) Nichols, Brittany (Brad) Fandrich, Dakota Rouck, Lakeisha Rouck, Ellie Jay Karolevitz; Great Grandchildren Anabelle, Ava, and Byron. And we cannot forget her amazing support of her large extended family and friends. Thank you so much for your support.
There is not enough paper to recognize all of the names of the amazing team of doctors and nurses in both Vancouver and Vernon for their care and compassion towards Darlene over this past year. To everyone at the Vernon Hospice, you are incredible. Thank you for the Love and Support, for Darlene and our family.
