Friesen, Darren Wayne
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend, Darren Wayne Friesen, age 40 years on March 8, 2013 in Saskatchewan.
Darren was born in Chilliwack, BC on July 1, 1972 (his Dad’s 25th birthday). In 1980, the family moved to Lumby, BC and Darren spent his youth growing up on the ranch, playing minor hockey and graduated from Charles Bloom Secondary. The past 20 years saw him living and working in many towns throughout BC and Alberta, most recently in Fort McMurray. He followed in his father’s footsteps in his career as a Heavy Equipment operator. He loved music, watching sports, working with computers and animals. Some of his favorite times were spent with his dog and his family, but especially laughing and singing with his 2 beautiful nieces that he loved so much. He was a huge New York Rangers fan for over 30 years and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Darwin and Patricia Friesen of Saskatchewan, loving sister and brother in-law, Melinda and Tony Thompson of Lumby, cherished nieces Carly Chaput of Alberta and Ciara Thompson of Lumby. Also left to mourn his passing is Darren’s treasured grandfather, Miros Turman of Manitoba- who will miss their constant and colorful hockey/football banter and debates and finally, his loyal German Shepard, Teasha. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends throughout BC, Alberta and Manitoba.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy to the family may left at the online guestbook at www.tubmanfh.com
