March 24, 1965 - February 3, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Alan Joseph Dutcher on February 3rd in Lumby, B.C.
David was born on March 24, 1965, in Vernon, B.C. to parents Ralph and Virginia.
David spent his younger years at the local arcade playing pinball, as well as camping with his grandparents and the gang at Pillar Lake. He also loved playing hockey and soccer, passions that carried on into adulthood.
He will be remembered for his passion of AC/DC, The Vancouver Canucks; whom we all may die before they win The Cup, soccer; playing net for The Camels where he was known to receive the odd red card, The Saskatchewan Roughriders, pinball, Mopar; specifically, his Barracuda and his beautiful grandkids, Macy McNugget and Nashy Doodle.
David married Heather on August 13, 1988. After a brief stint in Nakusp, Salmon Arm and Winfield they moved back to spend the rest of his life in Lumby, raising two children. After working in the tire industry for a decade, David moved on and became a well-respected welding instructor at Okanagan College for 21 years, where he had the privilege of passing on his extensive knowledge to hundreds of students.
David retired in March 2022 and spent last summer fishing like old times at Summit Lake, completing his Rogie Vachon hockey card collection, firing up his dirtbike, laying some rubber in The Cuda, smacking flippers on his collection of pinball machines and soaking up the sun alongside the pool; teaching flips and "The Can Opener" to his grandchildren, whom he loved very much.
He left behind Heather, his wife of 34 years, his children Ryan (Karinna), Sidney (Ryan O.) and his grandchildren Macy and Nash. Dave will also be missed by his mom Virginia Angstadt and step-dad Bob. His brothers John and Michael (Vicki), his mother-in-law Dawn Cover, brother-in-law Donald, sisters-in-law Debbie (Dominique) and Laurie (Ritchie) as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends and animals.
David was predeceased by his dad Ralph Dutcher, his father-in-law Raymond Cover, his aunt Carole Coulter, his uncle Vince Dutcher, his grandparents Joseph & Kathleen Avender and Vincent & Margaret Dutcher and his grandpa Sol.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon, B.C. on February 18th at 11:00 a.m.
David loved his animals, especially cats, so in lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in David's name to Fur-ever Friends Cat Rescue in Lumby, B.C. An e-transfer can be sent to fureverfriendscatrescue@gmail.com.
