David Carr Rae fell asleep in death on July 12, 2005.
David is survived by a sister Betty (Bill) Loren and brother Don Rae. David was predeceased by his parents, a sister Louise Riis and two brothers, Herb Rae and Tammie Rae.
David was born on September 25, 1923 in Brackendale BC to Clara Lilian Iona and Herbert Lawson Rae. Functionally disabled, he lived with his first family for 50 years; beloved uncle and brother by all.
His next family was in a group home in White Rock BC. The Wally Heldman family, now of Armstrong BC, took David with them into their home when they retired. After 25 years with them, David had health issues requiring special care, so he moved into Heritage Square (Bethany) in Vernon BC. David adapted well, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire and
bingo, bowling and teasing everyone who would get close enough for a ‘tickle’. Always kind, gentle and thoughtful, he had the ability to gather special people into his life. Residents, staff, visitors and volunteers at Heritage Square (past and present) made his last years so fulfilled. David had unique priorities. He had a locked drawer in his room, with playing Cards, an empty photo album and his chocolate and candy stash. What more does one need in this life? The people he loved were all safely placed in his heart. We will all miss him.
By his request there will be no service, cremation, with final resting at the family plot in Squamish BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heritage Square, 3904 27 Street, Vernon, BC V1T 4X7. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home
