January 19, 1936 - May 3, 2021
t is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Gach at the age of 85 years.... He was called "Home" to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus, May 3, 2021. David was born in Vernon, BC to parents Fanny & William (Bill) Gach, January 19, 1936.
He is predeceased by wife Lynne (Howkins).
David will be remembered by wife Cheryl, daughter Sara; son Troy; son Shane (Leann); step-son Dean; and stepdaughters Kelly & Lorelei; (Jeff ). Also 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 nephews (Jay & Randy) 1 niece (Holly) and loving sister Vi (Ron).
Dave was an avid fisherman!! Beginning in his younger years living at Sugar Lake.
He was in his glory getting out on the lake or stream fishing, catching many good meals for the family. Over the years (after moving to Lumby) would see Dave heading out "trying his luck" at his favourite lakes!! Fishing truly was his passion!! Dave mastered fly-tying, teaching his sons & nephews this great skill.
This inspired his nephew Randy Morgan to open his own amazing "Fishing-Tackle" store in Maple Ridge, giving Fly-tying & Casting lessons (bragging on his Uncle Dave's special part in his new venture)!!
Dave would become an all-around "Logger". But he would have to sacrifice his schooling to begin working with his father at Sugar Lake at the young age of 13 to accomplish this. He also became skilled as a Top- Notch "Faller", working for good friend Gordie Gudeit for many years.
Dave may have been small in stature, but he was all there, always giving it his best!!! He truly loved everything about the bush. (It was his life.... His very being!!)
After retiring he spent many wonderful days having coffee at "Sister's Restaurant" with his many friends (Like about 4 times a day!!) He had many great memories of everyone in Lumby (This was truly his HOME)!!
Would like to remember Charlie Chamberlein who became such a good friend to Dave while he was living in Vernon the past 8 months. Thank you Charlie for welcoming Dave into your home during the Pandemic to watch the many Hockey games (Dave's passion) & movies. He just loved getting together with you cheering on the Vancouver Canucks.
You truly made his last days so "Special" We just can't thank you enough!!
