We regret to announce the passing of David Gowing of
Armstrong who died tragically on Tuesday, December 30,
2008.
David was born at Barhead, Alberta and lived in the Vernon
/ Armstrong area for the past 44 years. In 1985 he married
the “Love of His Life”, Barbara Wagner of Armstrong.
He was a kind and generous man who gave 110% in
everything he did and was always willing to lend a helping
hand to anyone in need.
As an avid outdoorsman and long time member of the
Armstrong Fish and Game Club, he was known and
admired by many who shared his passion for hunting and
fi shing. Since 1980 he was a member of the 115 Operating
Engineers Union and employed as a heavy equipment
operator with Okanagan Aggregates since 1989. Everyone
who knew him well referred to him as “Digger”.
David is survived by his wife Barb Wagner; father Carl (Irene)
Gowing; brother Mel (Shelly), niece Garnette, nephew
Chris; sister Pam Newman; sister Donna Gowing, niece
Theresa Brzostowski; sister Dianna (Roger) MacGillivray,
nephews Craig (Bridget) Ross and Codey Ross; sister Betty
(Steve) Daschuk and brother Barry (Anne) Burge. He was
predeceased by his mother Anna Gowing and nephew
Dean Newman.
A private family service will be held at Mountain View
Chapel, Armstrong.
All family and friends are invited to come and share
memories at a Celebration of Life, on Saturday, January
10, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. onward at Centennial Hall, 3120
Pleasant Valley Road, Armstrong.
