David Gordon Hoye
Adventurer, thinker, experimenter, art lover, canoeist and beloved husband, father and friend—passed away peacefully on May 11, 2014 in Ottawa surrounded by the love of his wife of 45 years Judith (Sigurdson) Hoye and their children by his side.
David was born April 14, 1944 in St. Lambert, Quebec, recently celebrating his 70th birthday. He is survived by his parents Stan and Ruth Hoye of Vernon, B.C., his loving and loved children and grandchildren Michael Hoye and Arlene Chan and their children Maya and Carter, Kristen and Mike Beach and their child Zoë, and J. Matthew Hoye. He will be remembered by brothers Don Hoye and his wife Andrea, Gerry Hoye and his wife Linda, and sister Barbara Bunton and her husband Laurie and all of their children.
He delighted in, loved and inspired his large extended family including Jon Sigurdson and Lynn Smith of Vancouver, Elin Sigurdson and Drew Ridge of Philadelphia, and Thora Sigurdson and Chuck Willms of Vancouver and all of their children. His love of family, friends and Canada came through in his marvelous storytelling. He will be remembered for his stubborn kindness and the joy and laughter he brought us all.
Following the imminent birth of his fourth grandchild we will gather in Ottawa in late June to celebrate and remember his life.
