David Terrence (Terry) McAllister passed away May 2, 2015, with his beloved wife Ruth by his side. Terry was born in Vernon to James and Ada in 1931 and lived most of his life in the Lumby and Coldstream area.
He leaves behind, Ruth, and their children: Brenda (Brian), Laurie (Jim), Jeff (Leah), and Brian (Lisa); grandchildren: Christopher (and his father Lester), Bradley, and Sydney, Kaleigh, Cameron (and their mother Carol); sisters: Eileen and Beryl; in-laws: June, Frank, Glenn and Alva; and his much-loved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also, importantly, “second dad” to Donna and George, and “second grandpa” to Tristan, Kennedy, Lily, and Brady. Terry was pre-deceased by his dear son Bruce, his parents, brothers Barnard and John, and many long-time friends.
Terry was a brilliant man of many talents, with a dedication to helping all family and friends with whatever they needed fixed or built. He had a passion for invention and anything mechanical, and a deep appreciation for his family’s pioneer roots and local history. He was also always very interested in the latest activities and accomplishments of all his family, their friends, and everyone else he knew.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dad’s friend, Chuck, for all his help the last while, and all the nurses of the 2ND floor of V.J.H. and Hospice House, for all their compassionate care. Terry’s friends and extended family are invited to attend a relaxed celebration of his life on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm at the Women’s Institute Hall in Coldstream. In lieu of flowers, a donation to North Okanagan Hospice Society would be greatly appreciated.
