Delbert Harder

DELBERT LYAL HARDER (DEL) passed away into the presence of the lord on Monday October 23, 2006 at Hospice House in Vernon, B.C. Del was born in Calgary, Alberta on November 18, 1932. He is survived by his loving wife Jean to whom he was married for 51 years, his 3 sons, Robert (Lorna), Randy (Linda) and Don, two grandchildren, Ashley and Daniel, stepmother Sara Harder, sisters-in-law Alice and Ruby, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Grace Harder, his birth mother Dorothea Smith, son Ken, brother Richard and sister Shirley. Del was a heavy duty mechanic and welder by trade. When he retired, he enjoyed working at many projects such as welding and carpentry. He also enjoyed many activities including hunting, trap shooting, golfing, camping, traveling, square dancing and genealogy. We thank God for the care given to Del during his illness, especially Dr. Long, palliative care coordinator, Andrea (Our Angel) the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and Hospice House. A celebration of Del’s life will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church 3412 – 15 Ave Vernon B.C. at 1pm on Saturday, October 28th. Arrangements are in the care of First Memorial Funeral Services. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House in Vernon.
