We regret to announce the passing of Dennis George James Marsh on February 10th, 2021 at the age of 96 years.
Dennis was the youngest child born to Ernest George Marsh and Mary Adams on October 20th, 1924 in Kedington, Suffolk, England. His parents, sisters and Dennis immigrated to Canada from England arriving at Quebec in May of 1927.
They travelled to Ericksdale, Manitoba and then from there by horse and wagon to Tipperary, Manitoba. After a year they secured a farm at Bethany, Manitoba later moving into Minnedosa in 1939 when World War II started.
In 1942 Dennis joined the Canadian Army and served overseas until 1946. In January 1946, he married Edwina Mary Potter in England, returned to Canada in February of that same year and later moved to Vernon, B.C. where he spent the rest of his life.
Dennis worked at various jobs including two years in the trucking business and owned various sawmills in the Vernon, Salmon Arm and Enderby area while raising his family.
Over the years Dennis was involved in the Masonic Lodge becoming Grand Master in 1987 - 1988. Dennis and Edwina started the Freemasons Cancer Car Program in 1988. In early 1988 Edwina passed away and at the end of that same year he married Lauretta Jeffrey. They enjoyed retirement together until Lauretta passed away in late 2016.
Dennis is survived by his son, Rick (Sheila) Marsh; one step-son Rob (Yolanda) Jeffrey; one step-daughter, Shelley (Dave) Goble; his grandchildren, Eric (Grace) Marsh, Lindsey Marsh, Arielle Jeffrey, Morgan (Justin) Hunka, Aubree and Bobby Jeffrey, Joseph (Noelle) Goble and Hilary (Colin) Bradnam; his great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Andrew Marsh; extended family members and many friends.
As well as his parents and two wives, Dennis was also preceded in death by his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Ray Bockus, Emily and Adolf Sillen and Kay and Wallace Grant.
The Funeral Service will be held at All Saint's Anglican Church on Saturday, February 20th, 2021 at 1:30 pm with Reverend Canon Chris Harwood-Jones officiating. Due to the COVID-19 restricted number of people allowed at any gathering, the funeral will be only open to immediate family attending in person.
