It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother – Derold Scott. Born Wallace Derold Scott in Milestone, Saskatchewan on January 6, 1943, Derold served the country and community as both a member of the Canadian Army Provost Corps and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. After serving throughout Alberta and British Columbia, and meeting his wife Darlene in Chilliwack, the RCMP moved the Scott family to Vernon in June 1981.
Having enjoyed 25 years and seven months in the RCMP, Derold transferred into a civilian position in the Vernon RCMP Detachment in June 1992 that he held until retiring in December 2007. While in Vernon, Derold was active in the Boys Scouts, Fish and Game Club, Boys and Girls Club, and Horseshoe Club. He also enjoyed family time, cross country skiing, oil painting and sketching.
Derold passed away on December 26, after a series of illnesses. He is survived by his wife Darlene (nee Taylor) of Vernon; their children Kirsta MacIsaac (nee Scott) of Quebec City and Heath Scott of Kelowna; their grandchildren Nicholas and Jacquelyn MacIsaac, and Keanna; and his brother Howard Leroy Scott of Hinton.
As Derold wanted, his life will be celebrated during a private family interment ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation via the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. Condolences can be posted to www.mem.com.
