Dieter was born on September 6th, 1930 in Gadderbaum, Germany and passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 30th, 2017 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 87 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife - Consuelo, whom he was married to for 32 years; his children - Christopher (Claudia), Konrad (Barbara), Gabriela and Johanna (Dustin Love); his grandchildren - Marie, Sophie and Yolanda; and his extended family members and dear friends.
Dieter was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Karl Heinrich Godt and Dr. Else Thiele Godt; his brothers - Peter Godt and Dr. Klaus Godt and by his sisters -Rosemarie Cluesener and Dr. Brigitte ter Meulen.
Dieter came to Canada in 1957. He worked in the mining industry in Northern Ontario and later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he worked in Engineering with Wright Engineers Ltd. until his retirement in 1991.
In 1993 Dieter, Consuelo and Johanna settled in Vernon, B.C., Dieter ran a translation business vis a vis his many interests. He loved his property and spent lots of time constructing (his pride and joy was the barn conversion), repairing, growing vegetables and fruits and raising animals to name a few projects.
He was a projects man. His passions included hunting and spending time in the great outdoors. At different times in his life, he was involved in various community organizations, most actively with the BX Community Association. Dieter will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Cremation preceded the Celebration of Dieter's Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 15th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Teresa Charlton officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
The Godt family would like to acknowledge and thank all the medical professionals, staff and volunteers of the following medical services for their exceptional caring service, support and compassion: McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Center at VJH, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Paradigm Naturopathic Medicine, Main Street Medical Clinic, Community Care Nursing and the North Okanagan Hospice Society.
