It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Dina Mazereeuw (nee Compas) on December 11th, 2021 at the age of 92 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Jenny Katzel, Annie (Ron) Nielsen, Henny Valk, Jannette (Harry) Bradbury, Pieter (LaRhonda) Mazereeuw, Frieda (Glenn) Sirges, Jack (Janet) Mazereeuw, Pamela (Gordon) Wall, Craig Mazereeuw and Kathy (Larry) Redmond; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, her brothers; Jan Piet (Trien) Compas, Gerard Compas and Dick Compas, and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jan, her parents, Jan and Geesje Compas, and two brothers, Simon and Chris Compas.
Dina was born in Venhuizen, Holland on May 20, 1929 and immigrated to Canada in 1957. She married Jan Mazereeuw in May, 1958 in Langley, B.C. and moved to Vernon in 1973 where they, and their partner Bob Warren, operated Rainbow Lodge until retiring in 1988. There is so much more to the life of Dina Mazereeuw but we would have to write a book....love you Mom!
A special thank you to the staff at Hearthstone Manor for taking such good care of Mom for the last 4+ years, and to Knox Presbyterian Church for continuing to check up on her when she was unable to attend.
In respecting Mom's wishes she was cremated and a family Graveside Service will be held in the Spring.
