Mr. Donald Valentine (Don) Harwood passed away in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday, November 29th, 2006, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters; Kathryn Harwood and Nan Bristow, both of Vernon, B.C., two grandchildren; Todd (Shannon) Bristow and Tina (Aaron) Goettel, all of Calgary, Alberta, four great-grandchildren; Duncan, Stuart and Keeghan Bristow and McKenzie Goettel, one brother; Victor (Bev) Harwood of Vernon, B.C. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie Harwood on March 3rd, 1999 and his son-in-law, David Bristow on December 11th, 2002. Don was a life-long member of All Saints Anglican Church and served in various capacities there over the years as well as being very involved in the Boy Scouts for 35 years. He started working at Jacques Jewellers in 1935 and for a few years during World War II he served his Country. In 1947 Don took his Watchmaker’s Course in New Westminster and upon completion he returned to Jacques Jewellers where he remained for the rest of his life, eventually owning the store. He was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, skiing, swimming and spending time entertaining family and friends. Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at All Saints Anglican Church on Monday, December 4th, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with The Reverend Canon Chris Harwood-Jones officiating. Placement of Don’s cremated remains will follow in the All Saints Anglican Church Columbarium. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Don to the B.C.
