DONALD ANDREW HULL

Hull – Donald Andrew, born in Newcastle, Australia October 25 1926 passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Vernon, B.C. on August 28th 2015. Predeceased by his wife Erika, son Roy, and sister Peggy (George) in Australia. Don will be sadly missed by his son Mark and wife Suzanne and his grandchildren Amanda (Bolton-LeCompte) and husband Bob, Carolyn (Bolton-Eames) and husband Mike and Douglas (Bolton), his great grandchildren Cole, Lannah, Ashton, Addison and Jake, Cambridge, Ontario. He will be sorely missed by his niece Jo-Ann (Hart) and husband Allan, and nephews Brett (George) and wife Jenni, Chris (George) and wife Barbara and Lincoln (George) and wife Lorraine and their families all still in different cities in Australia.

Don was always looking for another adventure from working in Newcastle in the Iron Mill, gold mining in Papua New Guinea, gold assaying in England, prospecting in the Yukon, mining in Atikokan in Northern Ontario, to a long teaching career in both the Bracebridge and Gravenhurst (Ontario) High Schools.

Don took a keen interest in many aspects of the world, from geology and Geography, to being an avid environmentalist, to sustainable technology. He love hiking, skiing, and was an experience sailor and played the side drum in many Scotch bands from Ontario to the Sushwap. Don has sailed all over the world from Australia, the Mediterranean, Great Britain, east and west coasts in Canada, as well as many freshwater lakes in Canada.

Don and Erika moved to B.C. when they retired in 1994 and enjoyed many years together on their farm in Falkland until Erica’s passing in 2002. Don moved to Vernon, and was able to connect with some great friends. He loved his lawn bowling, curling and played many a game of scrabble and crib with friends and family. He liked to watch Blue Jays baseball and shared weekly dinners with friends.

Daddy, we will miss our weekly phone calls and reviewing the weekly crossword, and trips together,

you will forever be in our hearts.

Don will be cremated and his Celebration of Life will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon on Saturday September 5th at 11AM.
