Donald Courtland Case

(Feb. 13, 1944 – Nov. 11, 2014)

After a courageous battle with ALS, Don Case was called to be with the Lord on November 11th, 2014.

Don is survived and lovingly remembered by Regina Case, their four daughters and families: Joy (David Spencer) Case, Angela (Dave) Ryll, Roselyn (Brad) Minnes, Donna (Franco) Cuzzola, his granddaughter (Abigail) Minnes; his brothers, Michael (Ellen) Read, Russell (Erin) Read, his sister Deborah Fraipont-August; his stepmother, Evelyn Case, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. His parents, Donald Case and Mildred Read, predecease Don. 

Don Case was born in Dorval, Quebec. He completed his MSc at McGill University, then moved to BC and raised his family in Kelowna. Known prominently for his teaching career at Springvalley Secondary School, and his extensive community and volunteer work, Don always exemplified peace and good will, touching people’s lives with his wisdom and humour. Upon diagnosis with Advanced ALS, Don spent his last year and a half in Vernon to be close to family for care and support.

Don is forever cherished as a loving father, friend, educator, writer, nature lover, water-sports enthusiast, photographer, and Navy Veteran (Royal Canadian Navy Reserve, 1962-1967).

On Sunday, November, 30th at 2:00pm, Don’s family, friends, colleagues, and former students are invited to attend his ‘Celebration of Life’ at All Saints Anglican Church, 3205 27 St, Vernon, BC. A reception will follow.

The family extends special thanks to the extraordinary people who cared for Don with love and compassion.
