May 1, 1934 – November 10, 2016

Don passed away suddenly on November 10th, 2016 at the age of 82. He is survived by his loving wife Sue (Suzie) after 59 years of marriage, and his brother Blake. Don deeply loved his three children Mike (Kathleen), Kathy (Dennis) and Tom (Barb), and his seven grandchildren Brock, Kelsey, Scott, Kayla, Sam, Rob and Alex. He was predeceased by his parents Hazel and Rene Nolan.

Don was born and raised in Vernon, and maintained many of his early school friendships throughout his life. Following high school he attended UBC, and obtained a degree in Pharmacy in 1956. Don then joined his father at Nolan’s Pharmacy, and was a trusted advisor to members of our community for four decades until retirement in 1993.

Don’s life revolved around his love for sport. He was a natural athlete - accomplished in track and field, basketball, cricket, water skiing, golf and curling. Don held honours at Okanagan Valley track and field events, and his rink won the BC High School Boys Curling Championship in 1952. He was a lifelong member of the Vernon Golf and Country Club and Vernon Curling Club.

Don and Sue loved to travel, and over the years explored the U.S., the Caribbean and Europe. He volunteered with many community organizations, including the Vernon Kinsmen Club, Canadian Mental Health Association and Canadian Power Squadron.

Don was a man of few words but with many, many friends. His long-time poker crew and golf buddies will especially miss him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vernon Golf & Country Club at 2:00 pm on November 21, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s Light A Bulb Campaign at vjhfoundation.org.
