Donald Gordon Jubenvill, beloved husband to Ann of 25 years, passed away peacefully in Polson Special of Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Thursday, September 8th, 2011 at the age of 76 years.
Don is survived by his loving family: his wife, Ann; four daughters: Janice Perrier of Kelowna, Susan Strynadka of Vernon, Darlene (Duane) Perrier of Calgary, and Stephania (Douglas) Stimson of New Westminster; one son, Perry Perrier of Kelowna; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five brothers; two sisters; numerous nieces; nephews and many dear friends.
Don, along with his brothers and sisters, grew up on a dairy farm in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba. All nine siblings played in a band for many parades and public skating. Don played the trombone and always enjoyed music and dancing. Many a dance floor was polished by him and Ann. He was a pilot and flew a small aircraft, the “Fleet Canuck”. Don was interested in sports and played slow-pitch in his earlier years, golfed and above all, enjoyed curling. He worked for twenty-six years as a letter carrier for Canada Post. Don belonged to the Army, Navy and Airforce Spitfire Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he made many lasting friendships.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Father Dale Normandeau for Don’s spiritual journey and theirs. They would also like to acknowledge and thank the nurses and staff at Polson Special, The Day Break Program at Gateby, and Doctors Pritchett and Kadar.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15th, 2011 in St. James Catholic Church. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 16th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Father Dale Normandeau, Celebrant. Following the service, a reception will be held in the tea room of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
