February 5, 1933 – June 2, 2016

Don Lamar Albert, 85, passed peacefully June 2, 2016. His family would like to thank the staff of Monashee Mews for their compassionate support.

Don was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin and raised on a nearby farm. Offered a university scholarship for baseball, he chose to attend Minnesota Bible College where he met his wife, Carolyn. They moved to BC in 1958 to plant and strengthen Christian churches. He was instrumental in starting Dunn Lake and Double VM Bible Camps. He earned BA, BTh and MA degrees and served as a trustee of Alberta Bible College.

His mountain scenery and wildflower photos were published in magazines, books and textbooks. Also he painted landscapes in watercolor and acrylic. He shared his love of the outdoors with family – identifying every wildflower, tree and animal track when asked. Every grandchild remembers catching fish with Grandpa.

Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Iva and brother Harold. He leaves Carolyn, his wife of 62 years; daughters, Donna Yaskiw (Del), Sue (Bill Meikle) and Sharon; grandchildren Kathryn, Nicholas, Heather, Nathan, Jasmine and Meridy and great grandchildren Isabel, Joel and Phoenix.

A memorial gathering will be held at Coldstream Christian Church, June 25 at 1:30. Donations in memory of Don may be made to Double VM Bible Camp or Alberta Bible College.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vernon Funeral Home, Phone: 250 542 0155. Condolences may be offered at www.vernonfuneralhome.com
