It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Don White on March 15, 2019. Don died peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Bernice White, and brothers Robert and George. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Carol, twin brother Dave, son Kim (Courtenay), daughter Lorinda (Brian) and grandchildren Logan, Eloise, and Delphine.
Don was born on July 24, 1948 in Wadena Saskatchewan. After high school he went on to graduate from the broadcasting and journalism program at Mount Royal College in Calgary. He and Carol were married on December 29, 1969 in Waldheim Saskatchewan. With two children they headed west to a new job at Big R Radio, making Salmon Arm their home in 1974. Exiting his life in media Don joined the Braby motors team in 1991, where he worked until last year.
Don was an active and tireless volunteer since coming to Salmon Arm: coaching, parent teacher association, and church were some of the avenues he dedicated his time and talents to. He always had time for, and a big love of children; never afraid to be down on his hands and knees connecting with the smaller people. An avid reader, he was a fan of war history and historical fiction. Don was a lifetime fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Montreal Canadians.
Don's affable character and penchant for story telling will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered fondly by friends, family, and all who had the good fortune to cross paths with him.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Don White at the Shuswap Community Church, March 30 at 1 pm.
