Donald John Massey died suddenly at age 60, but peacefully on July 4th at his favourite place on earth, his cabin at the lake.
Loved by the world, he will be missed eternally by his wife Judy, brother David (Hetty) and sister Darlene (Keith).
He leaves loving memories of his children: Brenda (Kevin), Steven (Sharmon), Lori (Kerry) and Traci (Drew) and grandchildren Jessica, Travis, McKinnley, Emma, Saige, Avery, Jade and Liam.
Don lived his entire life in Vernon. He opened his home and heart to everyone he met. His livelihood was plumbing but his life centered around those he loved. He was an active fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. In recent years he was a member of the Vernon Model Airplane Club and could be seen often on the field north of town. Don loved to spend time at the cabin on OK Lake that he and Judy built with their own hands. Don’s favourite pastime was heading off down the beach with his grandchildren in tow to help a neighbour with a project or just a chat.
Don will be missed by his extended family and friends.
May Don’s smile be remembered by those he leaves behind, may we hear his chuckle when we are sad, and may our spirit be lifted by the wings he loved so much.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 11:30-2:00, Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Pleasant Valley Road.
