We regret to announce the death on April 25, 2006, of Donald Philip Orr, at the age of 82 years. Don was a skilled carpenter and woodworker, resident for many years in Calgary prior to moving to Vernon in 1980. He was a veteran, serving with the Canadian Army Medical Corps overseas during the Second World War. Don was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Don loved nature, and was an ardent and talented gardener. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce, in 1975; and by two sons: Neil in 1974 and Philip in 1995. Don will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary, of Vernon; son Wade of Calgary; and daughters Teresa (Rick) Osborne of Calgary and Debby Orr of Sherwood Park. He will be missed also by four stepsons: William Shelley of Kamloops, James Shelley of Vernon, John Shelley of Calgary, and Rick Shelley of Saskatoon; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members. A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 3:00 PM.
