January 20, 1951 - August 6, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with extreme sadness that we are announcing the passing of Donald Wayne Quiring, age 73 of Vernon, B.C. after a lengthy struggle with cancer, on his own terms, surrounded by loved ones.
Don was born in Tisdale Saskatchewan Jan. 20, 1951, to Pete and Aggie Quiring, younger brother to Raymond Quiring. The family moved to Prince George, where he started his own family with Donna, the mother of his three children. Eventually, they moved to Vernon where Don continued his lifelong career of professional driver for Dairyland and later Vedder - Agri Foods. He enjoyed visiting the many farms in the Okanagan where he picked up milk, always saying that Christmas was his favorite time of year as he was spoiled with delicious baking and spirits from the farmers and their wives. He was proud to say that he was never unemployed, rarely had a sick day and was never involved in a serious accident, despite being born blind in one eye.
Don loved to celebrate every birthday in warmer climates with good friends and family, especially with his toes in the sand, a cerveza in one hand and a shooter in the other. He was very proud of how well his boys played hockey, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching grandson Steel and granddaughter Talia play hockey and granddaughters Hillary and Hailey play ringette. He also enjoyed watching a good UFC or boxing match. Don was pre-deceased by his spouse of 38 years Helen Lorenson, his parents, brother Raymond and his sweet baby daughter Stacy who was only two and a half years old. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his partner and BFF Maureen Primrose, (Greg), his oldest son Darcy and Lisa, (Hillary and Hailey), son Tyler and Jenn, (Steel and Talia), stepdaughter LeeAnne and favorite s.i.l. Richard, (Jordan, Brendan, and Cole).
A Huge Heartfelt Thank You to the many friends who were always available for help and support and an occasional happy hour. We are very grateful for the exceptionally kind and caring individuals of OKIB first responders, the ambulance crews, community care nurses, nurses, and emergency staff at VJH and to Dr. Trayer, Dr. Martin and Dr. Spencer for their excellent care.
