Born March 30, 1936. Passed away unexpectedly November 5, 2010 following a brief illness. Predeceased by Geoffrey Davis, her beloved husband of 47 years, in 2007. Donna is survived by her loving family: daughters, Jody (Brian Nuttall) and Wendy (Brian Lutz) and son, Greg; her cherished grandchildren: Gordon and Scott Nuttall, Alicia Wynia, Brianne, and Cameron Lutz; and her dear great-grandchildren, Avary and Tyce Wynia.
Donna and Geoff spent their working lives in Winnipeg, The Pas and North Vancouver, retiring to Pender Island in 1990 where family and friends gathered often and great memories were made. In addition to juggling a demanding career and family, Donna devoted countless hours to a variety of volunteer activities. She loved meeting people and giving back to her community. In 2003, Geoff and Donna relocated to Vernon, close to family, due to Geoff’s failing health. Donna cared for Geoff for several years with love and grace.
Donna cherished every moment of life. She was optimistic, generous, loved a good joke, and could see the silver lining in any dark cloud. She treasured people, food and a glass of fine wine and was happiest when loved ones were gathered around her table. Whether creating her Christmas poem, a beautiful quilt, or a truly memorable meal, Donna was an artist – though she would modestly deny the label. A few weeks prior to her passing, she traveled with her daughter Wendy to Tuscany, Italy with the same spirit of adventure and enthusiasm with which she lived each day.
Donna’s love and friendship was a priceless gift, and she will live forever in our hearts and our memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. A reception will follow in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room.
In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Donna may do so to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101-32nd Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2.
