A wonderful lady has left us. Donna passed away at Noric House on January 30th, 2020 after a lengthy encounter with Alzheimer's. Born and raised in Hanna, AB, she went on to graduate as a registered nurse from Calgary General Hospital. After nursing in Stettler, AB for a year, Donna started her career as a nurse at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. In 1963 she met Brian after he arrived at the hospital following an auto accident. They started dating and were married in 1966, and had two children Jerry and Rhonda. Donna took time off from nursing to raise her children and eventually returned to nursing as a casual at Vernon Jubilee. She was a member of Kinettes during the 1960's and 1970's and in later years she was in Lady Lions. Her favorite pastimes included curling, golf and painting in water colors. Donna is survived by her loving husband Brian, her children Jerry (Jenny) Willows, Rhonda (Gary) Gilchrist and grandchildren Maguire Gilchrist and Samuel Willows. Also, surviving are brothers in Alberta, Neil (Doralis), Bill (Pat) and Jim (Beda), her aunt Anne, 6 nephews and nieces and many extended family members. Donna's parents Bill and Betty Mackenzie predeceased (her mother at age 103 in September 2019). The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the fantastic staff at Noric House for the friendly and compassionate care that Donna received there during the past 4+ years. A Celebration of Life ceremony for family members and close friends will take place this summer.
