July 14, 1938 - October 15, 2019
It is with heaviest of hearts, broken and shattered beyond words, that we share with you about the sudden passing of Donna Mae Holmes. Our best friend and Mom passed away suddenly, but peacefully, surrounded by her four children, their spouses, and her sister, in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on the morning of Tuesday, October 15th, 2019. Donna was also born in the same hospital on July 14th, 1938 and lived a wonderful life here in Vernon.

Mom was a dedicated mother first and foremost to her four children, sharing unique relationships with each of them, Joanne, Mark (Monica), Yvonne (Mark) and Carolynne (David); her step-children, Gwen and Jerry; as well as being a wonderful sister and friend to Elizabeth. She was a loving grandmother and will be missed by Kristin, Kevin, Jordan, Mason, Corrina, Layton, Haley, Daylin and Liam; as well as great-grandchildren, Zain, Adrianna, Berkley, Nixon, Jacob and Jace; along with many extended family members and friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Charles Oliver and Georgina Goldsmith; her sister, Holly Goldsmith; and her loving husband, Bill Holmes.

Mom had a wonderful life spending coffee time with family and friends, traveling, making precious memories at Mara, baking, gardening, volunteering and making friends wherever she went. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Mom had a kind gentle heart, infectious laugh with a great sense of humour. Her children, their families, her sister, nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends were always who were most important to her. She cherished every moment spent with others making Golden Memories. Mom was our best friend, confidant, anchor of the family, source of knowledge and a true "Angel in the shape of our Mom." She will be missed beyond words, to the Moon and Back.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Donna's Life which will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Robin Jacobson officiating. A Reception and sharing of memories will follow in the Church Hall.

The family would like to thank the EMT's, Doctors and nurses at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their kindness and compassion.

"Mom, you will be forever loved and missed. You were a blessing to us all. God bless you!"
