Donovan Sheldon (Don) Shilson was born on February 21st, 1931 in Carman, Manitoba and passed away on October 29th, 2016 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 85 years.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne, to whom he was married for 37 years; two daughters, Candyce (Wayne) Muzylowski and Lori Shilson of Powell River, B.C.; three grandchildren, Mark (Heather), Nicole (Travis) and Breanne (Chad); five great-grandchildren, Kendra, Makayla, Aiden, Logan and Callie; three step-daughters, Ella (Tim) Kronbauer of Vernon, B.C., Gail (Gordon) Davis of Prince George, B.C. and Heide (Harry) Koch of Vernon, B.C.; six step-grandchildren, Steven (Stephanie), Ashley (Latham), Brandon (Amanda), Dylan (Chantel), Jeanine (Barry) and Sheldon; seven step-great-grandchildren, Cadence, Parker, Stella, Sydney, Vienna, Ashton and Jack; two sisters, Yvonne Johnston of Mississauga, Ontario and Corinne (Bob) Anderson of Victoria, B.C.; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Don was a very outgoing and friendly man and instantly became endeared to everyone he met. He was a very active man during his life, having been a life-time member of the Kinsmen Club, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Vernon Carvers Club and the Kelvern Good Sam Camping Club. In his younger years he loved all sports but focused his attention primarily to curling and golfing. His greatest passion in life was spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors where he could be found fishing, hunting and camping.
In respecting Don’s wishes, he was cremated and there will be no Funeral Service held. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Don to the B.C. Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4-1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 9M9.
