Doreen Collinge Nee Douglas

Doreen Collinge Nee Douglas

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Doreen

Predeceased by her husband Elmer Ihaksi and husband Richard Collinge, Doreen is survived by sisters Joey James (Elmer) and Audrey Thorlakson

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Barrie Ihaksi (Jenny) and Rob Ihaksi (Vicky), together with her nine grand-children, great grand-children, and many nieces and nephews

She will also be missed by her step son Rick Collinge (Judy) and step daughter Cath Collinge

Doreen was born in Vancouver and lived most of her life in the lower mainland. She was a young bride and an even younger widow, faced with the challenge of raising two sons on her own while still in her thirties. She worked hard all her life and provided well for her family, gaining the respect of all who knew her. She loved the outdoors, especially her garden, which, after moving to Kamloops with her husband Richard, was able to enjoy for a number of years. She moved to Vernon after Richard passed to be nearer her son Rob and his family, which is where she spent her remaining years

Sincere thanks must be given to all the staff at Noric House whose care and compassion was so appreciated, and also to her grand-daughter Krista for her constant vigilance

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at the Vernon Golf and Country Club 800 Kalamalka Lake Road from 12:00pm – 3:00pm

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Doreen to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation c/o Noric House 2101 32 street Vernon, B.C. V1T9Z9.
