Doreen Duncan

Doreen Duncan, age 76, passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on May 1, 2005. Doreen was born at Abernethy, Saskatchewan on September 29, 1928, the daughter of Walter and Mabel Dixon. She grew up in Netherhill, Sask., attended college in Saskatoon, and began her working career in Kindersley, Sask. It was in Kindersley that she met and married her husband of 52 years, Ronald W. Duncan. Their RCMP adventures took them from Saskatchewan to 100 Mile House, B.C. and then Natal, Hope, Quesnel and to Vernon in 1969. Everywhere they lived, they developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Doreen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Ron of Vernon; two sons, Kyle (Norma) of Olds, Alberta, Kirk (Laura) of Surrey, B.C. and a daughter, Kathy (Ray) Norstrom, of Armstrong, B.C.; grandchildren, Tara, Wanda, Scott, Jordan, Mitchell, Heather, Sean, and great-grandchildren Devyn, Sydney, Justin, Rylie and Kobe. Doreen is survived by brother, Wesley (Marj) Dixon and their family of Calgary, Alta. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 6th, at Knox Presbyterian Church, 3701 – 32nd Avenue, Vernon, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101 -32nd Street, Vernon, BC, V1T 5L2. Arrangements and cremation are in the care of First Memorial Funeral Service.
