Doris May Mitchell
1915 – 2012
Doris was born in Fort Langley, BC September 6, 1915 and was called Home to be with her Lord on November 24th, 2012 at the age of 97 years. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Charles Alfred, daughter-in-law Jean Mitchell and her brother Maurice Reitz. She will be lovingly remembered by her only son, Walter (Elizabeth), three grandchildren Eric (Debbie), Kevin (Chris) and Guyla (John) Kirkwood, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Doris lived in the Lower mainland except for a stint on Lasqueti Island when she was very young. She married Alfred Mitchell in 1935. Since 1944 they lived in the Abbotsford area. Doris, because of failing health, moved to live with her son, Walter in Lumby in 2004.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who leaves behind a legacy of love and many good memories that her family will cherish. Doris worked many different jobs to help support her family and was always known as a hard worker. She faithfully visited the sick and seniors and had many friends and always gave of herself. Doris loved attending her church Central Valley Baptist Church in Abbotsford.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage Square where Doris received loving care during her six year stay there.
A funeral service will be held at Lavington Baptist Church, on Monday, December 3rd at 11 am. A Memorial service will be held at Central Valley Baptist Church, Abbotsford at a later date.
