ROBERTSON, DORIS VEOMA
Passed away peacefully on January 4, 2008, at Alexander Wing of Vernon Jubilee Hospital, age 92. Born in Enderby November 9, 1915, she grew up in Deep Creek near Salmon Arm. As a young woman she worked in the fruit industry in Oyama and it was there she met Edward Robertson of Mara. Dorie and Ed married in 1937, lived in Winfield until 1944, then settled in Mara where they farmed, raised their family and were involved in local community groups. In 1968 they “retired” to Winfield. Dorie and Ed continued to work seasonally in the fruit industry, were avid gardeners, traveled extensively, and enjoyed square dancing. In 1986 she moved to Vernon where she was an active member of the Schubert Center. She is predeceased by her husband Edward in 1980 and grandson Kent in 1971. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughter Peggy (Floyd) Varchol of Vernon and son Allan (Dale) of Ladner, BC, grandchildren Bruce (Sandra) Varchol, Jessica and Adrian Robertson, and three great grandchildren. She also leaves sisters-in-law Madge Callens, Isabel Foote and Florence Waby, and many nieces and nephews.
At her request, no memorial service will be held.
