DOROTHY MARGARET passed away peacefully Thursday, December 25, 2003 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong, B.C. Predeceased by her husband James Frederick in 1980, her son Malcolm in 2000 and her grandson David in 1961.

Dorothy will always be remembered and greatly missed by her daughter-in-law Joyce, her grandchildren Jim (Sue), Susan, and Ken (Nedy), great-grandchildren Mitch, Andrew, Jennifer, Laura, Siena and Kennedy, sister Betty Johnston, nieces and nephews Evan (Helen), Peter (Elva), Betty Ann, Ian (Joan), and Diane (David) and many long-time friends.

Dorothy was born on February 16, 1909 and raised in Armstrong, B.C. She married James Frederick in Armstrong, on July 16, 1930, and together they enjoyed almost 50 beautiful years. Dorothy was a devoted and well respected teacher employed by both the Richmond and Tsawwassen School Districts. She had a positive impact on the lives of many of her students and was honored for her work in the classroom. Dorothy and Fred lived many years at the Coast before retiring to the Shuswap in 1975.

Dorothy was a tremendously positive and enthusiastic individual, who had a special love for children and contributed greatly to her many church, volunteer and community involvement’s. As a long-term resident of Chase, Dorothy was well known for her love of gardening and the joy she derived from painting. Her paintings often expressed her great love for nature.

Dorothy will always be remembered for her enthusiastic, positive outlook on life, her concern for the environment, and her loving and caring ways. Her devotion to her family and friends will always be cherished.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff at Pleasant Valley Manor for the loving care and compassion shown to Dorothy during the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Saint Andrews / All Saints Church, Chase, BC. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Mountain View Funeral Home, Armstrong, BC 546-8294.
