July 17, 1920 – March 16, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the passing of Dorothy Lockerby.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Jackie Schreyer and son Barry Lockerby (Diane), five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister Joan Burwash and sister-in-law Hazel Price, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by brothers Art and Ted Price and sister Kay Waugh. Dorothy was born and raised in Vernon and resided in the same home that she grew up in until she moved to Vernon Restholm in 2015 where she made many new friends. Dorothy enjoyed the endless activities offered at the Restholm including bowling, bingo, the dice game and cards just to name a few.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the All Saints Anglican Church where she volunteered countless hours helping the ladies of the church in their charitable endeavors. Family and friends were what made Dorothy the happiest throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed her garden and her raspberry bushes as she was able to produce many jars of jam for family and friends. In her early years, Dorothy began her working career at the Vernon Post Office and then she eventually left that position to join the team at Nolan’s Drug Store. Several years later, Dorothy took on a new career as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist which she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the All Saints Anglican Church. Reception to follow.

The family would like to thank Dr. Waldron for his excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Dorothy.
