Dorothy S. Fitz-Gerald
November 8,1926 – August 30, 2007
Dorothy passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30th 2007 at the age of 80. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ted; her daughters, Geraldine (Harry) Bowker and Lexie
Fitz-Gerald of Vernon, BC; her sister Evelyn Stacey of Tsawassen, BC; her brother Ted Asp of Sandy Bay, SK; her granddaughter Tara Wakefield of Brandon, MN; and a large extended family.
Born on November 8, 1926 in Salmon Arm, BC Dorothy and her family later moved to Vernon. Dorothy met her future husband, Ted at the Army Camp in Vernon in 1945 and they were married on January 10, 1947. Ted chose to remain in the Armed Forces and throughout his 30 year career the family shared many homes and adventures, including a four year posting to Germany. Ted and Dorothy moved to Sechelt in 1973 when Ted retired from the Army and returned to Vernon in 1988.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 25, 3300 31st Avenue, Vernon on Friday September 14th 2007, at 2PM. In Lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so can make a donation to the charity of their choice in her name.
