Aug 27, 1926 - Apr 22, 2018
Dorothy Lois Lee passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on April 22nd, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Duchess, Alberta on August 27th, 1926 but grew up in the Westrose, Alberta area where she met and later married her husband Guy Lee of 62 years. They moved to Kamloops, B.C. and then eventually settled in the Vernon area.

Dorothy spent most of her time raising their four children and enjoying countless summers out at their family cabin on Okanagan Lake. She was an avid fisherwoman who absolutely loved to fish, rain or shine, usually out-fishing everyone and never wanting to get off the lake till dark. Dorothy worked many years as a bookkeeper for Ron Brown Mechanical in Vernon while spending her time off helping Guy paint and finish newly built homes in the area.

Guy and Dorothy travelled the world extensively during their years together - going to many exotic destinations including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Hawaii and the Canary Islands, sometimes taking grandchildren along. Dorothy's hobbies included golfing and gardening and she loved trying her luck at the casino on occasion, where she was usually very lucky. Anyone who knew her, knew just how lucky she really was.

During her last years Dorothy maintained a large household and yard herself after Guy passed away. She loved her yard and garden, proudly showing off her beautiful roses and dinner plate dahlias. She was a fabulous cook and hostess and always welcomed people into her home for great dinners and social times. She still managed to can dill pickles for her grandchildren and enjoy gardening until the age of 90.

When illness took her strength, she moved into an assisted living facility where she fought valiantly to gain back her health. Although she struggled with COPD, Dorothy had a positive resolve not to let her illness get the best of her.  Her family is so thankful that she can now finally catch her breath and rest peacefully. A special thanks to Mike, her Respiratory Therapist, in whom she had great faith.

Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother, always there when they needed her. She is survived by her four children, Byron (Maggie), Patricia, Rob (Dagmar) and Lori (Brad); her sister, Phyllis (Bob); six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Cremation preceded a Celebration of Dorothy's life which will take place in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Dorothy to the charity of their choice.
