Jul 4, 1932 - Mar 29, 2018
Dorothy Graham passed away at the Gateby Care Residence on March 29th after an extended illness.

Dorothy Mina Graham was born in Vermilion Alberta on July 4th, 1932 and raised in Luseland, Saskatchewan. Her parents were Lillian (Oakley) a teacher and Ole Eidem, a banker.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband Dr. John Graham and three children, Bill, Lesley and Stuart (Shelley). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Curtis, Breana, Shaun, Mercedes, Tanner and Cayleigh. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Rodney Eidem of Edmonton, Alberta.

Dorothy lost her father when she was 12 years old and was raised by her mother. Dorothy was always a top student and took her first eleven years of schooling in Luseland and her grade twelve in Vermilion. She graduated with a degree in education from the University of Alberta. After teaching for the Edmonton School Board, she was recommended to the University of Alberta Department of Education as a demonstration teacher. She gave up that job when she married John and accompanied him to Swift Current where he joined the Medical Arts Clinic.

She was immediately employed as a teacher in Swift Current and taught for three years. After four years in Edmonton where John took additional surgical training, the family moved to Vernon, BC. Dorothy then completed her Western Board Diploma and taught piano in her home for many years.

Dorothy was very active in the Music Community and served as treasurer of the Registered Music Teachers Association. She was also a dedicated, and active member of the United Church Women's Unit. Dorothy was very family orientated and all recreational and holiday activities were geared to the children. She also introduced her husband to music and he in turn introduced her to outdoor activities such as camping, golfing, skiing and canoeing. Later, Dorothy and her husband enjoyed travelling to exotic and distant countries.

"Last Farewell, I have loved you more dearly than words can tell",

The family wish to thank the Gateby Staff and Dr. Jean Flanagan for the kindness and excellent care that Dorothy received.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday, April 7th at 2:00 pm.
