Dorothy E.H. Robertson
1926 – 2014
Dorothy Edith Hurtnole Robertson of Armstrong, BC passed away in Vernon Jubilee Hospital on May 21, 2014. Dorothy was born to Arthur and Gertrude Holden on June 19, 1926 in Vancouver, BC, moving to Trail, BC at the age of 12. There she met the love of her life, Doug on a blind date. They married on July 4, 1946. A year later they began their family, raising three children. Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker: sewing, cooking, home baked bread and cookies, a gardener who preserved the fruits of her labour, was talented at doing crafts, having crocheted, copper work, leather work, and especially her ceramics. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and was active in her church ladies group. She helped prepare meals for the Armstrong I.P.E. for many years.
Dorothy was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. People always felt welcome in her home. People will remember her wonderful laugh. Dorothy is survived by her children: Phyllis (Gordie), Jeannette (Ted), Doug (Bozena); sister: Audrey; grandchildren: Dale (Sandra), Marilyn (Todd), Bonnie (Todd), Shannon (Robert), Carlene (Ben), Brye; 11 great grandchildren and other family and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and her husband Doug. There will be a celebration of life at a later time. Those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Dorothy’s name to a local charity of their choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.MyAlternatives.ca
