BARR, Douglas Wade

September 10, 1953 – May 28, 2012

A big man with a big heart, infectious grin and a twinkle in his eye left us on May 28, 2012 in Vernon, BC. Douglas Wade Barr was born September 10, 1953 in Mayerthorpe, Alberta to parents Allister and Doreen Barr. His great-grandfather, T.O. Barr immigrated from County Tyrone, Ireland with his children and settled in Stanger, Alberta. He will be forever loved and missed by his parents Allister and Doreen Barr, brother Fred Barr and his children Amanda, Christopher and Lucas and sister Karen Barr (Rhet Schatz) and her children Corie and Duane. Further cherishing his memory are extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Fred and Lydia Barr and his maternal grandparents Archibald and Dora Russell. In 1971 Doug graduated from Sangudo High School, Sangudo, Alberta. June 28, 1975 he married Katherine Barnes. He received a Plumber’s Certificate from BCIT in 1979. Some of Doug’s business interests included: Barr Plumbing Ltd. in Kelowna, Bad Buoys Tours Ltd. in Kelowna, Paradise Heating Ltd. in Langley and Kelowna, Ire-Con Holdings Inc. in Langley and Kelowna and International Golf Products in Victoria. Most recently he owned and operated North 40 Bottled Water Business in the Lumby area. Doug enjoyed skiing, golfing, recreational farming and gardening and horseback riding.
