Douglas (Sonny) William Clark
June 4, 1930 – Dec. 2, 2012
We regret to announce the passing of Sonny Clark on Sunday, December 2 at the age of 82.
Dad left his hometown of Springhill, Nova Scotia at the age of 17 with a friend, and made his way across Canada to White Rock, B.C.
His wandering spirit led him to many different jobs, hobbies and interests that changed throughout his life. He liked to skate, swim, go fishing, “tried” playing golf and cross country skiing, but probably his favorite past-time was playing pool and in his later years, enjoyed going to the casino.
He was an all-around handyman, but also liked to build bird feeders and houses, planter boxes and sleds for his grandkids.
He was a simple man, who enjoyed simple pleasures. Like feeding the birds, growing flowers, animals, “dessert”, and especially loved listening to his sons play music.
Dad was predeceased by his wife Pat, son Bill and girlfriend Gae Mainwaring. He leaves behind his two sons, Gary (Jill) of Fintry, Randy (Cathy) of Lavington, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one brother Buddy (Barb) of Nova Scotia. Also, his special friend Margaret McLennan, who’s love, friendship and kindness made Dad’s last year so much happier.
Special thanks to Dr. Schuch, Dr. Hardy, the nurses of 3 west, and the staff of the Vernon Hospice House.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2013.
