Douglas passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 18, 2009 at the age of 63 years. Doug is survived by his loving son Shane of Lavington, one grandson Drake, one brother, Larry (Carol) of Lumby, one sister Diane (Bernie) Smithson of Vernon, numerous nieces, nephews and his close
hunting and fishermen friends. He was pre-deceased by his devoted wife Marie in 2007.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting and spending time on his farm. When not in his hammock, he was puttering on a project out back; usually with some treasured junk he found at a garage sale or auction. A self-described “cowboy born too late”, he loved nothing more than being out in the bush, rifle or fishing pole on his back, on horseback, quad or snowmobile, trying to outfox nature. All who knew him will miss seeing him in his blue denim shirt and cap showing up for a friendly chat or bargaining adventure.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Doug’s life will be held in the Tea Room of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the PLEASANT VALLEY DIGNITY FUNERAL HOME (542-4333). On-line email@example.com.
