Jun 8, 1952 - Mar 1, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Gordon N.S. Davidson on March 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his beloved children: Ana (Ryan), Adrienne, Bren and the mother of his children, Tina.

He also leaves his beautiful grandchildren; Zoey, Cameron, and Austin; his sisters, Diane, Barb (Michael), Marg (Tom) and a host of extended family, many close friends, professional colleagues and clients.

Gord was born June 8, 1952 to Neil and Isabel Davidson, a pioneering Vernon family. He attended Bearisto Elementary and Vernon Senior Secondary School, graduating in 1970. Gordon went on to complete a BA from the University of Montana on a ski racing scholarship, an MA from Whitworth College in Spokane, and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from UBC in Vancouver.

As a practicing, innovative psychologist for over 30 years, Gord touched the lives of many individuals. In his roles as an administrator, educator, and clinician, Gordon's contribution to this community was immeasurable. A particular achievement was the founding of the Occupational Stress Recovery Program in Vernon, BC, which supports military and RCMP living with PTSD.

How to capture the life of such a special soul... superb athlete, keen intellectual, highly respected professional, and the role he cherished most... that of father to his three children.

Gord was the quintessential Vernonite. He loved waterskiing, snow skiing, windsurfing, mountain biking, tennis and sharing his love of these activities with family and friends. Visitors to his lakeside home couldn't escape without an inauguration to the art of waterskiing, the experience of which was typically... memorable!

Although larger than life in so many ways, Gordon was humble, sincere, compassionate, and caring. Gord's delightful sense of humor was loved by all.

We extend heartfelt thanks to all those who supported Gord and his family with many kindnesses during the course of his illness and the recent weeks.

A celebration of life will be held at Paddlewheel Park on April 7, 2018 at 1 pm. Gathering to follow at the family home in Coldstream at 7 pm that evening.
